I have some loot!

Last month I mentioned in this post how it was my month to hand out the project for the KC Scrappy Bee.  Well, I'm happy to report that I collected a whole bunch of really fun blocks at last week's KC Modern Quilt Guild meeting.  I thought I'd share with you what I collected.



I'm in love with the colors I ended up with.  I think this will turn out to be a really fun Christmas quilt. 

On another note, I know I've been a little bit sparse in my postings lately.  I've been working on a lot of projects and am not sure I can share all of them with you.  I sent out a quilt about a week and a half ago and have done 3 more since.  I've been up to Omaha twice in the last few weeks to quilt 6 different projects.  The last three I did are due on January 20th.  I just have the binding left to hand-stitch down.  Hopefully once I get through this bunch of projects, things will slow down enough for me to jump back into the blogosphere. 

Bee Block for Andrea

Here's the block I made for Andrea for the KC Scrappy Bee.  She asked for pluses and minus using the blue dotted fabric. 



I have been trying to overcome my fear of color lately, by using a color wheel for just about everything.  Typically, I use white as the background for EVERYTHING!  Jason convinced me that orange was the right choice here and that I could handle it.  I think it turned out. 

Andrea mentioned that she didn't particularly care if the the blocks were 12.5", but if they added up to that size, that'd be great.  I thought I'd put a bunch of mini blocks together to make a 12.5" block that she can pull apart if she likes.  I thought the mini blocks together were a little more interesting than just a plus or minus sign.

Quilts of Valor

Today seemed like an appropriate day to reveal my block for the Quilt of Valor my bee is working on. 

Nikki gave us each a pattern and a bit of the red fabric.  We were to make the pattern and use the red.  Here's what I made.
