How cool is this? I'm writing this post as part of an online quilt festival!Each entry is supposed to be the participant's favorite quilt. My favorite quilt changes about every time I make a new one. This is my current favorite.
My best friend, Amber had her first baby, Lucy in August and this is a quilt I made for her. After she told me she was pregnant I had a dream about the quilt I was going to make. In my dream there was a big tree with a swing. I went back and forth in my mind for weeks before I decided how to construct this quilt. I finished this up just in time for her baby shower in June.
This is a photo of the full top. The finished size is about 3'-0"x4'-6.
The mosaic below is some detail shots of the quilt.
Here's a photo of the back. I wanted all the thread on the back to be purple, so it would just look like a line drawing mirroring the front.

In case Paula's question wasn't just rhetorical:
I cut each piece and fused it where I wanted it to end up. After that I went back and did a satin stitch around each piece. After that had been done, I added the batting and back and quilted the whole thing.
That is a fantastic quilt!
What a special baby quilt- it is really lovely and I love all the details that you added to make it unique.
It will be a heirloom quilt for your friend's baby.

Ideas do come from my dreams. Alas, mine usually comes just before I am lulled to sleep. Only recently, I was kept awake by a new color way for my hand painted threads and ideas for new items for my shop.
